  • Wirksworth Community Response Group (Covid-19) | See website here (

This group aims to connect those who need urgent help  and essentials  with a team of volunteers, NHS workers and local businesses in Wirksworth & the surrounding villages to tackle COVID-19. A network of volunteers are being allocated to specific areas and each household will receive a leaflet and information that will advise on how they can access any help and support they need. This group aims to ensure access to essential food, supplies, medicine and emotional support via a dedicated contact.  Information and volunteers are being coordinated and the priority at the moment is to reach those who require urgent help.   •   Jigsaw Foodbank

Jigsaw Foodbank is operated through Church in the Peak, and currently works alongside professional agencies in the local area to support vulnerable individuals who are  to feed themselves & their families. They currently provide one off crisis parcels to meet an immediate need as well as supporting clients with regular food parcels over a longer period of time. Contact Jackie:

Call for Food Donations

Jigsaw have two deposit points, St Marys* and the Co-op in Wirksworth.  They are seeking dry goods (cans & sealed packet foods & toiletries -  no fresh food). *Food can be dropped off at St Mary's in the church porch. The gates will be unlocked until 5.00 pm each day when the donated food will be taken into secure storage until the Foodbank collects.

Stoney Wood

Stoney Wood is Wirksworth's Millennium woodland planted in the area recovered from Stonecroft Quarry. The land on which the wood is planted was donated by Tarmac Ltd to Wirksworth Town Council. Hiring the Hall

Main Hall

We have  two buildings with rooms to hire on an hourly basis, and the newly renovated Fanny Shaw's Community Building (FSCB) which is operated on a key loan system. 

Town Hall:- The Main Hall is large, suitable for a variety of uses - dance, exercise, large meeting space, wedding reception, family parties, musical events, etc, whilst other rooms - the Club Room, Ante Room, Council Chamber, are suited to smaller classes/groups. All rooms are available for hire during the day & evening during week days & weekends.  

Memorial Hall:- the Hall & Kitchen are available to hire for meetings, parties, fayres, events and classes/groups, during the day & evening during week days and weekends.

Fanny Shaw's:- Community building key available free of charge for use by groups such as: parents, schools, nurseries, scouts & not-for-profit groups holding events on the park.
