Message from Cllr Gladwyn Gratton, Chair of Wirksworth Well Dressing Committee

“Considering the situation with the current Corona virus the Well Dressing committee have decided to cancel the event for this year.

I been in contact with a number of the higher profile well dressing associations in our area and the general consensus is of concern of public safety and all are considering their position to their respective events, and some have also already taken a similar difficult decision to cancel.

As you can imagine this is not a situation I am happy with, but the safety of all our residents must come first. We hope to next year resume this historic tradition which both provides support to many charities (chosen by well dressing) and ofcourse brings pleasure to Wirksworth residents and visitors alike.

I will be contacting all individual well dressing organisations to advise them of the decision.“

The Town Council are supportive of the organisers decision to cancel this annual civic event.
